Leah Geer, PhD, DHHS-A

Leah is the Director of the Early Intervention Studies graduate programs at Gallaudet University. She holds an MA in Linguistics (2010), a Graduate Certificate (2023), and an MA (2024) in Early Intervention Studies. She earned her PhD in Linguistics from The University of Texas at Austin. Leah is the co-author of ASL at Home, a routine-based ASL curriculum for families with young deaf children, and serves as a Commissioner for the Commission on Collegiate Interpreter Education (CCIE) and as a Board Member of the American Board of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (ABDHHS). North Carolina

Brooke Waters, M.A.Ed., M.Ed., DHHS-P

Brooke Waters is a Teacher of the Deaf and Special Education teacher currently working as an itinerant teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina. She also serves as the Lead Exceptional Children’s Teacher and Support Specialist with Equalize Sensory Services and works as an online adjunct instructor at Grand Canyon University. Brooke has experience supporting DHH students from preschool through 12th grade in public schools and at the South Carolina and North Carolina Schools for the Deaf. In her current role, she primarily provides bilingual instruction in ASL and English to mainstreamed DHH students. Brooke earned a B.A. in Deaf Education from Converse University, an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education from Grand Canyon University, and an M.A.Ed. in Severe/Profound Disabilities from Western Carolina University. She is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Capella University.
